About

I am 30-ish, married with kids. I’m a sort of half-baked Buddhist and intellectual. I am studying to be a conservationist. I started this blog to discuss issues that are important to me, to formally and more fully express myself, and to aggregate all the interesting things I find online and want to share.

Some of the issues I like to talk about are…
truth, ideology, bias, religion, politics, science, transparency, etc.

Some of my heroes are…
The Buddha
Jesus Christ
Diogenes the Cynic
David Foster Wallace

See my first post for more about why I choose the name “Good Old Neon”

Some other things I like…

Music: The Pixies, Pavement, Arcade Fire, Bowie, Talking Heads, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Magnetic Fields, etc

Fiction Authors: Jorge Luis Borges, Pynchon, Philip K. Dick, Donald Barthelme, John Barth

Movies: Fight Club, Princess Mononoke, Shaun of the Dead, Brazil, Children of Men, Pan’s Labyrinth, etc.

  1. I experienced the “uncanny” when I came upon your site. Like I have been here before, though I know I haven’t. Like I’m reading my own mind.

Philip K. Dick? Borges? Of course. What about Harlan Ellison, too?
Pynchon, absolutely! And DFW! Also, Don Delillo. And Cormac McCarthy.
    Bob Dylan.
    The Grateful Dead.
    The “Lost” TV series.
    Any other Terry Gilliam movie.
I’m 47, married, with three boys and a beautiful wife.
I’m a Christian Buddhist Orphic Naturalist Agnostic Gnostic, for now.
    Nice to meet you.
